The Laboratory for Quantum Semiconductors and Photon-based BioNanotechnology (QS-PBNT) seeks a suitable postdoctoral candidate interested in advanced research focused on studying semiconductor-organic interfaces.
The QS-PBNT Laboratory is an integral part of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada that supports the collaborative work of university researchers and industrial members by integrating nano- and microtechnologies, primarily related to biomedical engineering and telecommunications. We are involved in a frontier, interdisciplinary research addressing both fundamental [1,2] and applied [3-6] aspects of semiconductor-organic nanointerfaces formation and their functioning and stability in the biological environment. The research is driven by the potential applications of III-V quantum semiconductors in the development of an innovative photonic platform for biosensing and advanced molecular biodiagnostics. We are seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to join our interdisciplinary university/industry team investigating rapid detection of bacteria and viruses. [1] O. Voznyy, J.J. | Preferred Skills: |
The successful candidate should have a recent Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, physical chemistry, or other relevant discipline with a strong background in experimental surface science. Working knowledge of surface spectroscopy techniques and hands-on experience with an x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy is a must. Candidates with microbiological experience and/or biophysics/biochemistry/bioengineering expertise are encouraged to apply. The starting salary for this position is at $37K, and it is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. The position will be awarded for a 1-year period and it will be renewable up to 3 years, depending on the achievements and available funds. For more information please send an e-mail describing your research interests and a CV to Prof. Jan J Dubowski, jan.j.dubowski@usherbrooke.ca. |
